what is the 14th amendment?
The 14th amendment stated that "all persons born or naturalized in the United States," would gain citizenship. It also says that states can not deny any persons "life, liberty and property, without due process of law."
The 14th amendment helped further civil rights to all Americans, including blacks. This amendment was ratified on July 9, 1868. This helps integration and equal rights. I think this helped because every citizen, including black people, will have the same rights. This affects everyone because the blacks will have a better life but many whites, especially in the south, may not have liked the decision that was made.
